Bill Robertson is the Chief Executive Officer of Big River Capital Management, and his first responsibility is the performance of your separately managed account. With more than twenty years of experience, Bill began officially tracking his performance on January 1, 2012 in order to provide money management services to individuals and institutions. Prior to launching Big River, Bill founded Robertson Financial Services LLC, a hedge fund consulting and marketing business in May of 2001. During the first five years in operation, Robertson Financial raised nearly $200 million of assets allocated to hedge funds. Bill was registered with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and held his Series 7, Series 24, Series 27 and Series 66 licenses. Robertson Financial allowed Bill to develop relationships with many of the most talented hedge fund managers on Wall Street.
Bill Robertson is part of a multi-generational family business with roots in agriculture and banking. Bill worked summer jobs on the family farm in Mississippi and used his cumulative paycheck to buy his first shares of stock in 1983 (Omnicare Inc. which was held until 1996 and resulted in a more than tenfold return). Robertson began trading a personal equities account fulltime in August of 1998 and used trading profits to make his first real estate investment through Robertson Securities and Property Trading Company, LLC in October of 1999. The real estate investment was made in a partially leased commercial office building where Bill completed the lease out, managed the property and subsequently sold the building for a profit in July of 2003. After this transaction, the real estate business transitioned into Robertson Development of MS, LLC which was created in December of 2005. Robertson Development built a retail shopping center from the ground up in Gulfport, MS. The property was sold for a profit in August of 2014.
Big River Real-Estate Partners Fund, LP was created as a Delaware entity and began acquiring Florida tax liens in June of 2009. Big River Real-Estate Partners Fund, LP became a Mississippi entity in January 2010. Big River Real-Estate purchased and renovated residential rental houses during the Great Recession.
While attending Mississippi State University, Bill Robertson was inducted into Phi Eta Sigma honor society, received the Bing Scholarship and was presented with a Certificate of Award for Academic Achievement from Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Bill graduated from Mississippi State in May of 1995 with a Bachelor of Business Administration. Following his undergraduate degree, from July 1995 through August of 1998, Robertson worked on the floor of the Chicago Board of Trade and became an exchange member of the CBOT. During this period he worked with some of Chicago's most talented traders.
Robertson completed his Masters of Business Administration a few blocks east of the CBOT at DePaul University in May of 1998. Bill is involved in the Jackson, Mississippi community participating in the Rotary Club of Jackson, Jackson Academy and Christ United Methodist Church. Bill is an eagle scout, marathon finisher and a licensed pilot. He has a passion for the markets, sports and the outdoors. He is married to Dana Robertson, and they have three children.
